When the COVID-19 outbreak first started in China, Isotech was able to help with the demand for high accuracy temperature measuring equipment and were able to rapidly ship large quantities of bench thermometers including the milliK precision thermometer. The Chinese National Metrology Institute donated multiple sets to the Hubei Province for forehead thermometer calibration which are used for fighting against coronavirus.
As the coronavirus spread outside of China and indeed to the UK, we considered how we could best look after the safety of all our team and our responsibility to society whilst continuing to supply equipment to those who rely on our equipment and services.
As with other companies, those who can work from home are doing so, and we have taken steps in increase social distancing and continue to monitor and implement UK government advice.
In addition to clinical thermometry, non-contact thermometry systems are being installed to detect fever and Isotech have been supplying equipment helping to improve the accuracy of these systems. The Isotech Model 988 allows for a simple, cost effective but high accuracy calibrator for the calibration of thermal imagers and infrared thermometers used at temperatures around body temperature, including those systems being used for fever detection. The Hyperion R Model 982 has also been used to calibrate medical thermometers both in the laboratory and in the field.
Outside medical settings Isotech supply equipment for essential services including energy and utilities.
As well as the supply of equipment, our ISO 17025 laboratory provides calibration services to a range of clients including the UK’s National Health Service. Isotech will continue to do this as long as we can operate safely, or the UK government advises otherwise. As we do so, we are grateful for the continued work of those in the NHS, the key-workers and those on the front line.
