Isothermal Technology Ltd (Isotech) has acquired Metrosol Limited, bringing a 20-year design partnership fully in-house
Metrosol, founded by Paul Bramley, has worked closely with Isotech for more than two decades and has been responsible for the design of several key instruments, including the microK, milliK and microK². Over this time, Metrosol also established a strong international reputation in Johnson Noise Thermometry.

This acquisition is a positive step for all involved
Johnson Noise Thermometry is a highly specialised technique for measuring temperature using the natural electrical noise generated by a resistor. It is recognised as an important area in the future of precision thermometry.
A positive step for Paul, the Metrosol team and Isotech
For Paul Bramley, it provides the opportunity to focus more fully on instrument design and development. For the Metrosol team, it secures their future within an established and growing business. For Isotech, it strengthens in-house design capability and brings Johnson Noise Thermometry expertise directly into the company.
Paul Bramley will continue to lead design activity as part of the Isotech team, ensuring continuity of knowledge and ongoing development of advanced thermometry solutions.

Paul Bramley said: “I am very pleased to see Metrosol become part of Isotech. The transition provides long-term security for my team, and it allows me to step back from the operational side of running a business and concentrate on instrument design, which has always been the thing that has interested me the most”.
The acquisition strengthens Isotech’s ability to invest in new technologies and supports the continued development of high-precision instrumentation for customers, partners and distributors worldwide. It also reinforces Isotech’s role in the ongoing advancement of primary thermometry.
