Why Use an SPRT?

An SPRT is capable of making temperature measurements to a much higher accuracy than other types of resistance thermometer. Measurement uncertainties can be less than 0.001°C.

What Temperature Range can an SPRT be used over?

Whilst the ITS-90 specifies temperature points from -189°C to 962°C, there are a number of ‘sub ranges’ and it is common for different models of SPRTs to be used over smaller temperature spans but with all passing through 0.01°C (Triple Point of Water).

Are SPRTs better than Industrial PRTs, do I need one?

SPRTs are specialist devices and they may well be too fragile or too expensive for your application – or an SPRT might be the only way to achieve a particular accuracy or measurement uncertainty.
