Isotech is pleased to introduce the Model 526 Ultra-Low Dry Block Calibrator, extending reliable temperature calibration down to −115°C

Developed for applications where controlled and repeatable ultra-low temperature performance is required, the Model 526 provides a practical solution for calibration below −80°C, supporting both laboratory and field use.

Model 526 Low Temperature Source

A Practical Approach to Ultra-Low Calibration

As calibration requirements move further into ultra-low temperature ranges, maintaining stability and uniformity becomes increasingly challenging. The Model 526 has been designed to provide a consistent and controlled calibration environment without unnecessary complexity.
Using Free Piston Stirling Cooler (FPSC) technology, the Model 526 achieves temperatures down to −115°C with stability of ±0.05°C across the range. This supports reliable verification and validation of sensors used in ultra-low freezers, cold chain storage, and cryogenic processes.

Designed for Laboratory and Field Use

The Model 526 combines ultra-low capability with practical usability.
• Cooling from ambient to −115°C in approximately 85 minutes
• Typical stabilisation time of 15 minutes
• Portable design suitable for site and cleanroom environment
• Environmental protection to reduce moisture ingress and ice formation
This makes the instrument suitable for routine calibration tasks as well as more demanding validation work.

Integration with Isotech Calibration Systems

The Model 526 can be used as a standalone dry block calibrator or as part of a complete calibration system.
It integrates with:
• Isotech reference thermometers
• Precision indicators
• I-Cal Easy calibration software for automated calibration, data logging, and certificate generation
When used with an external reference thermometer, system accuracies of up to ±0.05°C can be achieved, depending on the reference system used.
The Model 526 meets the requirements of EURAMET cg-13 for temperature block calibrators.

Typical Applications

The Model 526 supports a wide range of ultra-low temperature calibration applications:
• Pharmaceutical cold chain validation, including −70°C to −80°C storage
• Medical and bio-banking environments
• Calibration of ultra-low freezers and environmental chambers
• Aerospace and environmental testing
• Food processing and flash-freezing systems
• Industrial and laboratory calibration below −80°C

Frequently Asked Questions

What temperature range does the Model 526 cover?

The Model 526 operates from −115°C to +50°C, making it suitable for ultra-low temperature calibration applications, including those below −80°C.

Is the Model 526 suitable for pharmaceutical calibration work?

Yes. The Model 526 provides stable and repeatable temperature control suitable for cold chain validation, bio-banking, and related applications. When used with appropriate reference equipment, it supports traceable calibration.

Can the Model 526 be used in the field?

Yes. The instrument is designed to be portable and suitable for site use, including cleanroom environments, while maintaining stable performance.

What inserts are available? The Model 526 is supplied with a standard multi-hole insert. Alternative inserts, including B and C types and custom-drilled options, are available to suit different probe sizes and applications. A validation insert is also available to support comparison calibration, allowing multiple sensors and a reference probe to be positioned together for improved measurement confidence and uniformity assessment.
